Lorenzo Burns didn’t join former Arizona teammates Roy Lopez and Gary Brightwell in hearing his name called Saturday at the NFL Draft, but the cornerback will still have a chance of realizing his professional dreams.
Burns has signed an undrafted free-agent deal with the Arizona Cardinals.

A 5-foot-10 cornerback out of Murrieta, Calif., Burns started four seasons as a Wildcat and was named 2019 and 2020 All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention. In Arizona’s shortened five-game 2020 season, he recorded 24 total tackles, one pass breakup and one fumble recovery.
Burns joins Jace Whittaker as the second former Arizona cornerback looking to make the Cardinals’ 53-man roster. The two played together in Tucson from 2016-2018.
Though Burns has his work cut out for him this summer, he does have the advantage of training for an organization that has taken chances on multiple undersized Wildcats defenders in recent years (Whittaker and Scooby Wright in 2016-17).
Will we be seeing Burns play up the road in Glendale this fall?
