Wisconsin transfer linebacker Malik Reed, an Arizona native, commits to Wildcats

Jedd Fisch has reached back into the NCAA transfer portal for another in-state prospect who previously got away from Arizona.

Malik Reed, a linebacker who signed with Wisconsin in the 2020 recruiting class, announced Tuesday he’s transferring to Arizona.

The 6-foot-2, 220-pound Reed was ranked by 247 Sports as the No. 654 player in the 2020 class when he picked Wisconsin over Arizona, Colorado, Nebraska and UCLA. The Chandler native did not play for the Badgers last season.

Reed is the third linebacker Arizona will bring in this summer from the transfer portal. The Wildcats previously signed Western Michigan’s Treyshaun Howard, the 2019 MAC Defensive Player of the Year, and Bowling Green’s Jerry Roberts.

He is also the fifth transfer the UA has picked up who played high school football in Arizona.
