Who knows how many, if any, Pac-12 games Arizona will win in its first season under coach Jedd Fisch. But on the recruiting trail the Wildcats have landed at least one victory over a South Division rival.
AJ Jones, a 3-star wide receiver from Ontario, Calif., committed to the Wildcats on Monday, doing so after backing off his previous commitment to UCLA in June.

The 6-foot-4, 195-pound Jones is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 677 player in the 2022 recruiting class, as well as the 93rd-best wide receiver in the country and the No. 49 prospect from California. He also held offers from ASU, Colorado State, Fresno State and San Diego State as well as UCLA, to whom he committed in April.
Jones’ commitment comes after he made an official visit to the UA on June 11, the same time that current UA 2022 commits Noah Fifita and Grayson Stovall were in town, among others.
“I loved it there, it just felt,” Jones told Greg Biggins of 247Sports. “I got that special feeling you always hear about and really bonded with the players and coaches out there. Kevin Cummings, the WR coach and coach (Ryan) Partridge hit me up every day, it’s constant communication. The players were great too and I’ve talked a lot with Noah Fifita, who’s committed there and I’m really excited to play with him.
“I love coach Fisch too. He was great to be around on the visit and I was really comfortable with him. I believe in him and what he’s trying to build. Offensively, he has a great plan in place and I think I can come in and make an early impact.”
Arizona now has 10 commitments for 2022, including 3-star Chandler defensive end Russell Davis II on Saturday.
