Arizona’s roster currently has 116 players, of which more than 20 are walk-ons. During training camp the Wildcats put a trio of defensive backs (Rourke Freeburg, Treydan Stukes and Jaydin Young) on scholarship, and two of the team’s most-experienced players (receiver Stanley Berryhill III and center Josh McCauley) began their UA careers as walk-ons.
“You’re always looking for talent,” UA defensive line coach Ricky Hunley said. “If a guy can do something special one time he should be able to repeat it.”
In order to try out, participants must be enrolled as a full-time student and registered with the NCAA Eligibility Center. They must also provide proof of vaccination against COVID-19 or a negative test, as well as results of sickle cell and EKG tests and a physical exam within the last six months.
Tryout packets can be found here and must be returned by Monday, Oct. 4.
