Welcome back to the next edition of Friday Night Lights. High school and college football is in full swing all across the country as we move further into September.

Let’s take a look at how Arizona’s commits did in their latest action.

Noah Fifita, QB, Anaheim (CA) Servite

  • Last Game (Aug 26): 44-7 victory over Mission Viejo
  • Season Stats (Updated): 32-for-52, 603 yds, 7 TD, 2 INT & 11 car, 128 yds, 1 TD
  • Notes: Fifita and Servite had a bye week as he and fellow Arizona commit Keyan Burnett made the trek to Las Vegas to watch their future team take on BYU.

Jonah Coleman, RB, Stockton (CA) Lincoln

  • Last Game (Aug 20): 26-7 loss to Edison
  • Season Stats: Unknown (not updated)
  • Notes: Coleman is another commit who had the weekend off with a bye. Lincoln is back in action on September 10 against Buhach Colony.

A.J. Jones, WR, Ontario (CA) Colony

  • Last Game (Sep 3): 44-21 loss to Temecula Valley
  • Game Stats: Unknown (not updated)
  • Season Stats: Unknown (not updated)
  • Notes: Jones only had about 30 seconds of highlights from last weekend (grand total of 2 plays). But they were good plays. He had a nice 8-yd catch along the sideline and a 63-yd pick six while he was playing safety. He continues to show that he will be a big weapon along the sideline and in the red zone with his size and hands.

TEMECULA VALLEY HIGHLIGHTS

Keyan Burnett, TE, Anaheim (CA) Servite

  • Last Game (Aug 26): 44-7 victory over Mission Viejo
  • Season Stats (Updated): 6 rec, 109 yds, 2 TD
  • Notes: Burnett and Servite had a bye week as he and fellow Arizona commit Noah Fifita made the trek to Las Vegas to watch their future team take on BYU. Of note, his stats have been updated and are shown above.

Tyler Powell, TE, Phoenix Brophy College Prep

  • Last Game (Sep 3): 49-0 victory over St. Mary’s
  • Game Stats: 5 rec, 63 yds
  • Season Stats (updated): 5 rec, 63 yds
  • Notes: Powell is quite impressive. His size makes him one of the biggest people on the field, however, he is also very athletic. He runs decent routes and had good hands. His blocking has definitely gotten better from last year and he has definitely gained some strength. I’m eager to see how the rest of his season plays out.

ST. MARY’S HIGHLIGHTS

Jonah Savaiinaea, OL, Honolulu (HI) St. Louis

  • Last Game (Aug 20): 42-21 loss to Bishop Gorman
  • Season Stats: N/A
  • Notes: Savaiinaea and the Crusaders had a bye week this past weekend. They will be back in action on September 10 against Kamehameha Kapalama.

Grayson Stovall, OL, Chandler Hamilton

  • Last Game (Sep 3): 56-7 victory over Desert Ridge
  • Game Stats: N/A
  • Season Stats: N/A
  • Notes: I haven’t been able to find any film of Stovall during Hamilton’s win over Desert Ridge.

Isaiah Johnson, DL, Chandler

  • Last Game (Sep 3): 28-7 victory over Centennial
  • Game Stats: 4 tackles, 1 TFL
  • Season Stats (updated): 4 tackles, 1 TFL
  • Notes: I haven’t been able to find any film of Johnson but he had a decent game statistically. He had a TFL to go along with four tackles. That’s good production against a good Centennial team.

Jermaine Wiggins Jr., DL, Lawrence (MA) Central Catholic

  • First Game: September 10 against Central
  • Notes: The Raiders will start their season this upcoming weekend against Central.

Sterling Lane, OLB/DE, Westlake Village (CA) Oaks Christian

  • Last Game (Sep 3): 30-7 loss to Valor Christian
  • Game Stats: 8 tackles
  • Season Stats (Updated): 27 tackles, 5 TFL, 1 sack
  • Notes: Lane had a decent game statistically during OC’s loss to Colorado-based Valor Christian. He doesn’t have any film out yet from the game. Lane also made the trek to Las Vegas to watch his future team play.

Tristan Monday, OLB/DE, Scottsdale Saguaro

  • Last Game (Sep 3): 63-0 victory over McClintock
  • Game Stats: 4 tackles, 4 TFL, 1 sack
  • Season Stats (updated): 4 tackles, 4 TFL, 1 sack
  • Notes: Monday continued his strong play. Every one of his tackles resulted in a negative play. His highlights are short, but it’s an impressive play. Monday explodes through the line and blows up the running back in the backfield. Good stuff from the in-state pass rusher.

MCCLINTOCK HIGHLIGHTS

Russell Davis II, EDGE, Chandler Hamilton

  • Last Game (Sep 3): 56-7 victory over Desert Ridge
  • Game Stats: 8 tackles, 2 TFL
  • Season Stats (updated): 8 tackles, 2 TFL
  • Notes: Davis had an impressive showing last weekend. He showed a strong ability to work his way through the line and make tackles, including two in the backfield. He also had two QB hurries, one of which shows him hit the QB out of frame, then come into frame and smack the ball carrier for a loss. Davis’ second hurry comes as he bull-rushes his opponent, causing the QB to dump the ball off quickly. His highlights are slightly confusing at first, but you’ll soon realize that they show the same play from multiple angles.

DESERT RIDGE HIGHLIGHTS

Tacario Davis, CB, Long Beach (CA) Millikan

Last Game (Sep 3): 47-8 victory over St. Anthony

  • Game Stats: Unknown (not updated)
  • Season Stats: Unknown (not updated)
  • Notes: Millikan got their first win of the season easily against St. Anthony. I wasn’t able to find any news, such as stats/video, on how Davis played.

Kyron Chambers, CB, Dallas (TX) South Oak Cliff

  • Last Game (Sep 3): 42-27 loss to Duncanville
  • Game Stats: 4 tackles, 1 TFL
  • Season Stats (updated): 4 tackles, 1 TFL
  • Notes: I like the way Chambers plays. He goes downhill and is aggressive. He showed that he is able to notice plays develop and quickly react to make a play. He is a hard hitter and is surprisingly good against the run. Another solid pickup for DeWayne Walker in the secondary.

DUNCANVILLE HIGHLIGHTS

Zeke Berry, ATH, Concord (CA) De La Salle

  • Last Game (Sep 3): 68-6 victory over Monterey Trail
  • Game Stats: N/A
  • Season Stats: 2 tackles; 2 rec, 40 yds & 1 car, 7 yds
  • Notes: DLS delivered a shellacking to Monterey Trail last weekend. Berry, however, didn’t play much of a part in the blowout due to leaving early with an injury.
