Homecoming is the perfect time for an afternoon football game. Too bad the TV folks don’t agree.
Arizona’s Homecoming game on Nov. 4 against No. 23 UCLA has been slated for a 7:30 p.m. MST kickoff, with Fox Sports 1 airing the contest. It will be the first time this season the UA is on a Fox network.
UCLA (5-2, 2-2 Pac-12) is coming off a 42-7 win at Stanford, improving to 2-2 on the road this season, and plays this weekend at home against Colorado. The Bruins won their last game in Tucson, in 2021, but Arizona (4-3, 2-2) upset them in Pasadena last November.
Combined with a 7:30 p.m. MST kickoff for this Saturday’s game against No. 11 Oregon State, all five Arizona home games with broadcast info will have been at 7 p.m. or later. The last chance for a day home game is Nov. 18 against No. 13 Utah.
The only time since 2010 there hasn’t been at least one kickoff before 5 p.m. local time was in 2017.
