As expected, the Arizona Wildcats are big favorites to win the 2023 Territorial Cup.
Arizona has opened as a 10-point favorite against Arizona State, according to DraftKings Sportsbook. No over/under has been listed yet.
The Pac-12 announced last night that the Territorial Cup will kick off Saturday at 1:30 p.m. MST in Tempe on ESPN.
10 points are the most Arizona has been favored by in the Territorial Cup since being 12.5-point favorites in 2008. Arizona won that game in Tucson 31-10.
Historically, Arizona has rarely been favored to win in Tempe.
According to OddsShark’s College Football Database, there have only been three such instances since 1999, and the Wildcats have failed to cover all three of those times.
Most recently Arizona was a two-point favorite in the 2017 Territorial Cup in Tempe and lost 42-30.
Overall, the Wildcats are 1-4 ATS in their last five trips to Tempe.
As for this season, Arizona has been one of the surest bets in the sport.
Arizona enters the final week of the regular season as the second-best team in the country against the spread (ATS). The Wildcats have covered in 9 of 11 games and are +10.7 ATS.
The two times Arizona has failed to cover this season have come as road favorites. The UA was favored by 13 at Stanford and won 21-20, and at Colorado it was favored by eight points and won 34-31.
ASU, meanwhile, is 5-5-1 ATS this season. The Sun Devils are coming off a 49-13 loss to Oregon in a game where they were 24.5-point home underdogs.
