Arizona will be playing games annually in Texas in its future, with the move next season to the Big 12 Conference. Why not get a jump start on visiting the Lone Star State?

The Wildcats (9-3) have been chosen to play in the Alamo Bowl, their first postseason game since 2017, and will face Oklahoma (10-2) in San Antonio on Dec. 28. The game will be played in the Alamodome and air on ESPN at 7:15 p.m. MT.

With Washington making the College Football Playoff and Oregon earning a New Year’s Six bid to the Fiesta Bowl, Arizona was the top choice left from the Pac-12 as the No. 14 team in the final CFP rankings. No. 12 Oklahoma is representing the Big 12 for the final time, as it is headed to the SEC in 2024, after finishing the regular season tied for second.

Arizona and Oklahoma have played twice before, a home-and-home series in 1988-89 with both teams winning on their home fields.

The UA is 9-11-1 in bowl games, including a 38-35 loss to Purdue in the 2017 Foster Farms Bowl. It has played in the Alamo Bowl once before, a 36-10 loss to Oklahoma State in 2010, and is 1-1 in the Alamodome including a 2014 win at UTSA.

A win in San Antonio would get Arizona to 10 wins for just the fourth time in school history. Oklahoma has won at least 10 games 19 times since 2000.
