Getting to know 3-star OL signee Matthew Lado

The 2023 Early Signing Period is finally here! The Arizona Wildcats welcomed numerous new players to the team on Wednesday.

One such player is 3-star, in-state offensive lineman Matthew Lado.

AZ Desert Swarm: What is your favorite hobby?

Matthew Lado: “My favorite hobbies are working out and playing video games.”

What is your favorite post-game meal?

“My favorite post-game meal is a Chipotle bowl with steak, brown rice, black beans, and all the vegetables and some queso on top.”

What is your go-to pre-game hype song?

“Pre-game hype song is Bodies by Drowning Pool. My defensive line coach put me on with rock & roll music. I’m loving it.”

What is the fondest memory you have of your high school career?

“My fondest memory of my high school career is me working out and grinding with my teammates after my junior year. Going to football camp and having some of the best memories of my life with them.”

What is your greatest strength on the field and what is the part of your game you’d like to work on?

“I would say my greatest strength on the field is my ability to shut down every team’s best pass rushers through my technique, patience, and agility. I would like to improve on taking on bull rushes.”

Which 2024 class member are you closest with?

“I would say Brandon Phelps is the closest person I know in the 2024 class. He’s a great person to know and very skilled.”

What are your thoughts on Arizona’s 2023 season?

“I thought this season was a great improvement from last year overall as a team. I see a bright future for this team and everyone on it. I’m very happy to see many players have a chance to go to the NFL.”

What are you looking forward to the most about being an Arizona Wildcat?

“The thing I look forward to most about becoming a Wildcat is working with all my teammates and building that brotherhood bond with them, just like any other football team I’ve been a part of.”
