It was an interesting week for Arizona’s recruits as many saw a drop in their production from the first week of the season. With that, their were some impressive showings in the defensive backfield and a 100-yard kickoff return for a touchdown.
With that, let’s dive into this week’s Friday Night Lights!
3-star QB Robert McDaniel, Hughson (Hughson, CA)
- Game Result: Won 45-7 over Pitman
- Team Record: 3-0
- Game Stats: 12-for-20, 292 yds, 5 TD
- Season Stats: 43-for-62, 702 yds, 11 TD, 0 INT; 2 car, 27 yds
- Notes: I wasn’t able to find any video of McDaniel this past weekend but he clearly had a stellar performance once again.
3-star QB Luke Haugo, Higley (Gilbert, AZ)
- Game Result: Won 25-20 over San Juan Hills
- Team Record: 2-0
- Game Stats: 16-for-27, 184 yds, 0 TD, 1 INT; 8 car, 47 yds, 1 TD
- Season Stats: 33-for-49, 437 yds, 4 TD, 1 INT; 12 car, 82 yds, 2 TD
- Notes: I was unable to find any video of Haugo from the weekend. Based on his stats, it seems he had a less-than efficient day through the air. He only averaged 11 and a half yards per completion and threw a pick with no touchdowns. He did score his second touchdown of the season with his legs. Just an interesting game for Haugo.
3-star RB Wesley Yarbrough, Crosby (Crosby, TX)
- Game Result: Lost 24-0 to Iowa Colony
- Team Record: 0-2
- Game Stats: Unknown
- Season Stats: Unknown
- Notes: I was unable to find any stats or video of Yarbrough from the weekend.
3-star WR Terry Shelton, Ranchview (Irving, TX)
- Game Result: Lost 45-7 to Sunnyvale
- Team Record: 1-1
- Game Stats: 5 rec, 61 yds
- Season Stats: 10 rec, 292 yds, 3 TD
- Notes: It was a difficult game all-around for Shelton and Ranchview. Shelton had a drop-off from the previous week where he posted over 230 yards on five catches. He had a nice 30-some-odd yard catch where he did a fantastic job high-pointing the ball over the defender. Other than that, it looks like plan by the Wolves was to use Shelton in the quick-pass game.
3-star WR Isaiah Mizell, Boone (Orlando, FL)
- Game Result: Won 27-7 over Olympia
- Team Record: 2-1
- Game Stats: Unknown
- Season Stats: 16 rec, 380 yds, 4 TD
- Notes: Even though Boone played, I was unable to find any stats or film on Mizell in their win over Olympia.
3-star WR Muizz Tounkara, Clear Springs (League City, TX)
- Game Result: Won 19-13 over Heights
- Team Record: 1-1
- Game Stats: Unknown
- Season Stats: Unknown
- Notes: I was unable to find his receiving stats or film from the weekend.
3-star WR Gio Richardson, Basha (Chandler, AZ)
- Game Result: Won 47-3 over Mesa
- Team Record: 2-0
- Game Stats: 4 rec, 24 yds, 1 TD
- Season Stats: 9 rec, 195 yds, 3 TD
- Notes: Richardson had a drop-off in his stat line from last week. He did, however, score another touchdown with an impressive run after the catch in the red zone. In fact, he had another impressive showing with the ball in his hands. He is truly dynamic. He was also able to add some nice run-blocking film to his senior reel as well.
3-star TE Kellan Ford, Monte Vista (Danville, CA)
- Game Result: Lost 24-20 to Bishop O’Dowd
- Team Record: 1-1
- Game Stats: 2 rec, 28 yds
- Season Stats: 10 rec, 131 yds, 3 TD
- Notes: I was unable to find any highlights of Ford in action. Like many of Arizona’s offensive commits this past weekend, he had a drop-off in production from his first game.
3-star OL Sione Tohi, Mater Dei (Santa Ana, CA)
- Game Result: Won 31-15 over Bishop Gorman
- Team Record: 2-0
- Notes: I was unable to find any video of Tohi but he did help the Monarchs get just over 170 yards rushing and doesn’t seem to have given up a sack during their shellacking against the #2 high school in the country..
3-star OL Losipini Tupou, Archbishop Riordan (San Francisco, CA)
- Game Result: Lost 42-34 to St. Bonaventure
- Team Record: 1-1
- Notes: Couldn’t find full highlights of Tupou but I did find a few clips from his teammates. He showed some solid blocking and stoutness in his blocking once again.
3-star OL Javian Goo, Kapolei (Kapolei, HI)
- Game Result: Bye Week
- Team Record: 3-0
Notes: Kapolei was on a bye week.
3-star OL Michael Langi, Archbishop Riordan (San Francisco, CA)
- Game Result: Lost 42-34 to St. Bonaventure
- Team Record: 1-1
- Notes: Couldn’t find any video of Michael Langi during Archbishop Riordan’s loss to St. Bonaventure.
3-star DL Mays Pese, Bishop Diego (Santa Barbara, CA)
- Game Result: Won 31-28 over Westlake
- Team Record: 2-1
- Game Stats: 8 tackles, 2 TFL, 1 sack, 1 QBH
- Season Stats: 17 tackles, 3 TFL, 1 sack, 1 QBH, 1 PBU
- Notes: I haven’t been able to find any video of Pese but he had a very productive game, including notching his first sack of the season.
3-star DL Kaleb Jones, Mountain Pointe (Phoenix, AZ)
- Game Result: Lost 27-13 to Cathedral Catholic
- Team Record: 1-1
- Game Stats: 3 tackles, 1 TFL
- Season Stats: 6 tackles, 3 TFL, 1 sack, 1 QBH
- Notes: Jones had another solid showing in MP’s loss this past weekend. He is just strong and his low center of gravity seem to be a lot for opposing offensive lines to handle. He is just a disruptive force, destroying the momentum of running plays before they get started. That type of impact should not be overlooked.
3-star CB Dajon Hinton, Hamilton (Chandler, AZ)
- Game Result: Won 35-21 over Desert Ridge
- Team Record: 2-0
- Game Stats: 1 tackle
- Season Stats: 7 tackles, 1 INT
- Notes: Hinton didn’t record that many stats this past weekend. He did start the game with a 100-yard kickoff return for a touchdown.
Out at Hamilton tonight as they take on Desert Ridge!!

Fast start to the first for Hamilton as they lead 14-0 with 8 mins to go. @ArizonaFBall commit Dajon Hinton opened the game off with a 100-yard Kick Return TD!!

3-star CB Coleman Patmon, Del Valle (Del Valle, TX)
- Game Result: Lost 37-13 to Clemens
- Team Record: 1-1
- Game Stats: Unknown
- Season Stats: 5 tackles, 1 TFL
- Notes: Patmon had another physical showing in Del Valle’s loss this past weekend. His best play came as he was dropping into a shallow zone he quickly closed the gap and took down the ball carrier for a loss. The rest of his clips show his quickness and physicality in pursuing plays down the field.
3-star CB Swayde Griffin, Lago Vista (Lago Vista, TX)
- Game Result: Lost 44-26 to Connally
- Team Record: 1-1
- Game Stats: 4 tackles, 1 INT
- Season Stats: 11 tackles, 1 INT, 1 PBU
- Notes: Griffin was impressive this past weekend. His interception was an amazing display of athleticism. Playing off the receiver, Griffin stopped his backpedal to come forward as his receiver stopped on the sideline. The receiver then took off down the sideline with Griffin playing catch-up. He was able to utilize his speed and instincts to get into the correct position to intercept the ball in front of his opponent. The rest of his highlights show how effective he is against the run and how quick he can hit speed.
3-star CB Gianni Edwards, North Forney (Forney, TX)
- Game Result: Lost 34-21 to Plano East
- Team Record: 0-2
- Game Stats: 2 tackles
- Season Stats: 7 tackles, 1 TFL
- Notes: Edwards’ highlights are a little short and shows two shots of the same play. He showed nice closing speed on the receiver screen to finish the play off.
3-star CB Joshua Tuchek, Millikan (Long Beach, CA)
- Game Result: Lost 69-68 to Downey
- Team Record: 1-2
- Game Stats: Unknown
- Season Stats: 11 tackles, 1 PBU, 1 FF
- Notes: Not much video out there on Tuchek during the shootout loss with Downey. I did find a recap of the game from the incredible local Long Beach sports journalists over at The562.org. You can see Tuchek a few times notching tackles. He is wearing jersey #2.
3-star S Allen Gant, Coronado (Lubbock, TX)
- Game Result: Lost 45-17 to Lubbock-Cooper
- Team Record: 1-1
- Game Stats: 7 tackles, 1 INT
- Season Stats: 14 tackles, 1 TFL, 1 INT, 1 PBU
- Notes: Gant is one heck of a player. Besides having an impressive 75-yard touchdown run on offensive and the impressive run after a dropped punt snap, he is very good on defense. He had an amazing interception where he did a fantastic job sticking with his receiver downfield and snagging the ball out of the air as the opposing WR came across his face to try to take it from him.
3-star ATH Sean Robinson, Steele (Cibolo, TX)
- Game Result: Won 62-34 over Reagan
- Team Record: 2-0
- Game Stats: 2 tackles
- Season Stats: 5 tackles
- Notes: I couldn’t find any video of Robinson from this weekend but he did have a few tackles this week.
