Arizona National Signing Day 2015: Wildcats Beefing Up The D-Line with Anthony Fotu

Arizona certainly needs all the help it can get on the defensive line

The Arizona Wildcats Football program received a huge upgrade along their defensive line when JUCO (Laney C.C.) DL Anthony Fotu signed his letter of intent on 12/17/14. Fotu was the cornerstone for Laney's defense, earning defensive MVP honors during his sophomore year, after accumulating 30 tackles, 2.5 sacks, 2 FF, INT, as well as, 2 touchdowns.

At 6'4'' 285lbs., Fotu displays an impressive, explosive first step off the ball. Paired with his high motor, Fotu will be a wrecking force to opposing offenses in the Pac-12. Anthony is extremely active with his hands, but at times too active; once he becomes more efficient opposing offensive linemen will not be able to keep up. Fotu plays with great leverage, however, some situations he can play with a high pad level. Already enrolled at U of A, Fotu will be able to practice with the team in spring, allowing the coaches to correct his minor technique flaws. Anthony's versatility and Scooby-esque effort will make him an exciting player to watch this upcoming year, if he's able to crack the starting d-line.

Anthony Fotu is a 4-star prospect, and is the 5th ranked JUCO DT on ESPN. Before committing to Arizona, Fotu had several offers from: Illinois, Maryland, Miami (FL), Mississippi St., Mississippi, and Washington.
