The Arizona Wildcats signed 2018 three-star cornerback McKenzie Barnes on Wednesday, warding off the UCLA Bruins who made a late offer.

Here is some info on Arizona’s lengthy defensive back.

Height/Weight: 6-foot-3, 175 pounds

High School: Edison High School

Hometown: Fresno, California

247Sport Ranking: National - 1,440th; Position - 129th

2017 Stats: 35 tackles, 2.0 TFL, 28 PBU

Career Stats: 40 tackles, 3.0 TFL, 29 PBU

Other Offers: UCLA, Oregon, Washington State, Mississippi State, Nevada, and others

My Thoughts: Barnes is the type of cornerback that Arizona needs. He is tall and rangy, using his long arms to disrupt the receiver and swat the ball away. His press man coverage skills are impressive and he is deceptively fast. He will need to add more weight to his frame.

Senior year highlights:

Barnes’ thoughts on becoming a Wildcat: “I can’t wait to finally be there and represent my family and city in the right way.”

Favorite Food: “That’s a tough choice...between hamburgers and spaghetti.”

Favorite Music Artist: “Drake or Chris Brown.”

Favorite Sports Team/Pro Athlete: “I don’t have a favorite pro team. Marcus Peters is my favorite pro corner.”

Hobby/Hobbies: “I like to sing and play piano.”

Major: “Business.”
