When college basketball’s top prospects all get together at the McDonald’s All-American Game festivities, plenty of chit chat happens between them because...well...17 and 18-year-old elite athletes that play a sport that is known for super teams.
So when Arizona Wildcats signee DeAndre Ayton is rooming with a currently-undecided Arizona target in Brian Bowen, some things are going to be said between the two.
“We’re rooming together so I’m recruiting him all the way,” Ayton told ZagsBlog while in Chicago. “It’s going pretty good. He still hasn’t decided, and he hasn’t given me any hint of what he’s doing, but he’s getting an earful from me every day.”
That wasn’t the only undecided guy that Ayton was out there trying to add to Arizona’s 2017 recruiting class.
“I’ve been recruiting (Trevon) Duval as well, and tried to talk to him immediately,” said Ayton. “I think we could use another point guard.”
Ayton also said that he was working on Brandon McCoy, who listed U of A in his final five schools on Monday alongside Oregon, Michigan State, San Diego State, and UNLV.
It’s pretty obvious that Ayton isn’t afraid to let you know what’s on his mind. He said that Kobi Simmons will be declaring for the NBA Draft, and also had a bold prediction for next year’s team:
“I think Arizona will be a Final Four team next year,” he stated.
If he can land all of these other players as well, then maybe he’s on to something.
