As the Arizona Wildcats look to re-establish themselves in Texas, the coaching staff has landed its second verbal commitment from the state this week in athlete Jaiden Dockery.
Dockery, who plays at Lancaster High School in Lancaster, Texas (Dallas area), tweeted out his verbal commitment to Arizona on Tuesday. This pushes Arizona’s 2018 recruiting class to seven members.
“I would like to thank god most importantly,” he said. “Also my coaches and my mom for helping me through my decision. Also all my supporters to but, I am very blessed to say that I will be furthering my education and football career at The University of Arizona #Beardown.”
Dockery joins Darrius Smith, a now-three-star running back, as the two verbal commitments from the state of Texas. Smith plays in the Houston area. The most recent commit is also listed as a safety by 247, which would make him the second safety in the class, with Armani Adams being the other. Dockery is larger than Adams, measuring out at 6-foot-even and 185 pounds. MaxPreps actually lists Dockery at 6-foot-2 and 191 pounds.
According to SportsDay HS, Dockery rushed for 143 yards on 30 rushing attempts, and also attempted 16 passes, completing seven of them. He put up three rushing TDs and a passing TD.
His defensive stats were unavailable, but his team did go 12-2 in Texas’ District 10-5A, winning its division. Their 12 wins were tied for fourth-most in all of Texas 5A.
Dockery is ranked as a three-star by Rivals, and according to them, also held offers from Illinois State and Memphis. It’s likely that Dockery will make like Smith and be ranked by most recruiting services in the coming days after this commitment.
You can check out his 2016 highlights here, though they’re all on the offensive side of the ball.
