Arizona football recruiting SitRep: A look at Wildcats’ wide receiver targets

Looking at the ‘Cats’ top pass catching targets

Fall camp is over for the Arizona Wildcats and that means getting back to a normal practice routine to prep for the first game.

The recruiting trail has been relatively quiet lately with a few offers going out. So for this week we will focus on the Wildcats’ wide receiver targets.

Let’s get in to it.

Wide Receiver Targets

Solomon Enis/North Canyon High School (Phoenix, AZ)/4-star

Enis’ recruitment has been interesting to follow to say the least. I have been unable to get a beat on which direction it’s going. The Penn State legacy dropped his top seven schools on Thursday, and his list includes Arizona, Penn State, Utah, USC, Ole Miss, Arizona State, and California. The ‘Cats have been recruiting Elis well but this recruitment can go in any sort of direction. For now we will say the ‘Cats have more work to do.

Kobe Smith/Junipero Serra High School (Gardena, CA)/4-star

Smith has had himself quite the offseason. He has garnered a lot of attention and offers to go along with it. One of those offers came from the UA staff. Smith has interest playing in Tucson and part of that is his friendship with sophomore quarterback Khalil Tate. Some other schools in the running for Smith’s services include USC and Nebraska.

Khalil Shakir/Vista Murrieta High School (Murrieta, CA)/4-star

Arizona is among the top schools for Shakir and have continued to aggressively recruit the explosive playmaker. When I talked to him back in June, Shakir had good things to say about Arizona and the coaching staff. Of note, he visited Tucson back in March and came away impressed. Arizona State, Boise State, Illinois, and BYU are all players in his but this is a recruitment I can see going in Arizona’s favor.

Tre Adams/Wakeland High School (Frisco, TX)/3-star

Adams camped with Arizona during one of its Texas-based camps in June. After his performance at the camp, Adams impressed the staff enough to extend an offer. Some of his other offers include Illinois, Utah, and BYU. Adams brings the size that the ‘Cats will need after this season, coming in at 6-foot-3. It’ll be interesting to see where his recruitment goes from here and what type of impression the staff can make if they can get him on campus.

Jermaine Braddock/Charter Oak High School (Covina, CA)/2-star

Braddock is a new offeree for Arizona. However, they have been keeping tabs on him for some time. He is another recruit who has had a solid offseason and should play a big role for his team this season. Arizona was his first Pac-12 offer so it’s safe to say the ‘Cats are in the lead right now.

Jaron Woodyard/The Avalon School (Gaithersburg, MD)/Unranked/Arizona Western JC

Woodyard has been a big target for the ‘Cats since they offered earlier in the year. The speedster has visited Tucson a couple of times already and his recruitment seems like one that can end in a commitment to Arizona.

Recruitment Notes

  • On Friday, 3-star defensive tackle Tyler Manoa released his top four schools. UCLA, Utah, and California join Arizona on Manoa’s shortened list. Arizona has continued to recruit Manoa hard and it is paying off. The ‘Cats have done a great job this cycle recruiting the defensive front and Manoa would be an excellent addition.
