Grant Gunnell, QB, St. Pius X

Result: Road loss to St. Thomas Catholic, 52-49

School Record: 8-2

Game Stats: 28 for 39, 514 yds, 5 TD, 1 INT; 7 car, 21 yds, 0 TD

Season Stats: 258 for 371, 4146 yds, 48 TD, 6 INT; 78 car, 461 yds, 7 TD

Game Notes: It wasn’t the way Gunnell and SPX wanted to end the regular season. But that doesn’t mean the year is over, as SPX now starts its playoff run. Gunnell had a really great game, per the usual. There wasn’t too much film on him but below are some highlights and one of his touchdown passes.

Next Game: Home playoff game against All Saints, Nov. 16

Kwabena Watson, DE/OLB, Edison

Result: Road playoff loss to Central, 42-21

School Record: 6-6

Game Stats: Unknown

Season Stats: Unknown tackles, 17.0 TFL, 10.0 sacks (not final season stats)

Game Notes: Edison’s season is over as it fell in the second round of the playoffs in California. That means Watson’s next stop is Tucson, as his high school career is over. There were no stats or film of Watson during the game.

Jaxen Turner, S, Rancho Verde

Result: Road playoff victory against Bishop Alemany, 42-14

School Record: 12-0

Game Stats: 5 rec, 59 yds, 0TD

Season Stats: 21 tackles, 1 INT, 5 PBU; 25 rec, 343 yds, 2 TD; 9 car, 72 yds, 3 TD (Incomplete stats)

Game Notes: Turner and the Mustangs continue to dominate this season, staying perfect through 12 games. There wasn’t any film of Turner during this game but there was film of a really good play that Turner made against Tesoro in Rancho Verde’s first playoff game. Turner is on defense and comes up to make the tackle. Instead, he slams into the receiver, yanks the ball out of his hands and starts running down the field. An overall excellent play by Turner.

Next Game: Neutral-site playoff game against Notre Dame, Nov. 16

Maurice Gaines Jr., CB, St. Thomas More

Result: Road loss to Cheshire Academy, 17-0

School Record: 5-3

Game Stats: 2 tackles

Season Stats: 6 tackles, 1 INT, 2 PBU (Unconfirmed, based off clips)

Game Notes: There wasn’t too much on Gaines during his last game before college. It did look like he had at least two tackles in STM’s loss to Cheshire Academy.

He has his season highlights out as well and he still shows what makes Arizona coaches excited about him. He is going to be a good one.

Cheshire Academy:

Season Highlights:

Jamari Williams, OL, Cardinal Gibbons

Result: Home playoff victory against Merritt Island, 49-14

School Record: 9-2

Game Stats: N/A

Season Stats: N/A

Game Notes: Williams continued to dominate opposing defensive lines with ease. He has such a high motor and I really love the fact that he keeps on his block till the whistle. The Chiefs move on to the second round of the Florida 5A playoffs.

His updated senior highlights are below as well.

Merritt Island:

Updated Senior Season Highlights:

Next Game: Home playoff game against Jones, Nov. 16

Kane Bradford, DT, Skyline

Result: Home victory against Pearce, 28-27

School Record: 7-2

Game Stats: Unknown

Season Stats: 10 tackles, 6.5 TFL, 1.0 sack (Unconfirmed, based off clips)

Game Notes: There wasn’t any film or stats for Bradford in Skyline’s win over Pearce.

Next Game: Home playoff game against DeSoto, Nov. 16

Chris Roland, DB, William Knight

Result: Neutral-site playoff loss against El Rancho, 56-52

School Record: 9-3

Game Stats: 6 tackles, 1.0 TFL, 1 PBU; 9 rec, 356 yds, 5 TD (Unofficial; based off clips)

Season Stats: 57 tackles, 4.0 TFL, 7 INT, 3 PBU, 1 forced fumble; 77 rec, 1491 yds, 19 TD (Some stats are based on clips)

Game Notes: Roland went off in his final high school game. It’s really difficult to describe the roughly 10-plus good plays that Roland made on offense and defense this past weekend. My words are just not good enough to capture what Roland accomplished. The best thing you can do is watch these highlights below. Staggering.

Derrion Clark, LB, South Oak Cliff

Result: Home victory against Jefferson, 64-0

School Record: 9-0

Game Stats: 9 tackles, 3.0 TFL, 2.0 sacks

Season Stats: 86 tackles, 18.0 TFL, 5.0 sack, 1 INT (Incomplete, not all games have been updated)

Game Notes: Clark continues to prove week-in and week-out that he is one of the most underrated prospects, not only in Arizona’s class, but possibly in Texas. He has all the tools you could ever want in a linebacker. He tackles great, has nice vision and dissects plays at a high level.

Updated senior highlights are below.

Senior Season Highlights:

Next Game: Home playoff game against Everman, Nov. 16

Michael Wiley, RB, Strake Jesuit

Result: Road victory against Alief Taylor, 35-0

School Record: 9-1

Game Stats: Unknown

Season Stats: 115 car, 894 yds, 12 TD; 11 rec, 158 yds, 0 TD (Incomplete stats)

Game Notes: There weren’t any stats and not much film on Wiley but I did find a clip of a 49-yard touchdown run he had. Another great play for Wiley this season.

Alief Taylor:

Senior Season Highlights:

Next Game: Home playoff game against Clear Brook, Nov. 16

Eddie Siaumau, OLB/DE, Leone

Result: Home loss to Nu’uuli Vocational Technical, 30-2

School Record: 2-6

Game Stats: N/A

Season Stats: N/A

Game Notes: Siaumau and Leone dropped their game final game of the season. Siaumau’s next stop is Tucson.

Kyle Ostendorp, P, Desert Vista

Result: Neutral-site playoff game loss to Perry, 49-20

School Record: 10-2

Game Stats: Unknown

Season Stats: 28 punts, 1167 yds, 41.7 avg, 62 yd long, 12 Inside the 20

Game Notes: Desert Vista and Ostendorp’s dream season came to an end on Friday. There were no stats for Ostendorp. It looks like the team is going to start dropping Ostendorp’s game film from throughout the season. First up is Carlsbad High.

Ahina Aitogi, OL, Fort Scott CC

Result: Home loss to Dodge City CC, 27-7

School Record: 2-8

Game Stats: N/A
