Jill Aguilera had a brace and Desiree Foster scored her first career goal as Arizona soccer returned to the win column with a 3-2 victory over Cal State Northridge on Sunday in Tempe.
Aguilera’s two goals—her first of the season—give her 26 for her career, passing Nikki Jones and Jada Talley for third-most in program history. Only Gabi Stoian (29) and Mallory Miller (32) have more.
A sixth-year senior, Aguilera said earlier this season that she’s not concerned about setting records.
“As Becca (Moros) would say, I don’t give a s—t,” Aguilera said. “Whoever scores, scores. Everything I do is for the team. And if I’m the one scoring, fine.”
Aguilera scored in the 12th and 36th minutes on Sunday Both goals were assisted by freshman Gianna Christiansen, her first career points.
Foster, a freshman, scored in the 13th minute off an assist from Jordan Hall to give the Wildcats a 2-0 lead.
CSUN answered with goals in the 29th and 51st minutes to cut the deficit to 2-1 then 3-2.
Arizona’s 21 shots on Sunday tied the season high they set vs. NAU a couple weeks ago.
It was a much-needed win after a loss to No. 17 LSU on Thursday.
The Wildcats (2-2) have another tough weekend ahead, with home games against Nebraska (4-2) and Texas Tech (4-0-1) on the docket.
