Jessie Harper, Ivy Davis and Marissa Schuld went deep and Alyssa Denham twirled a one-hit shutout as No. 5 Arizona cruised to a 10-0 victory over San Diego State on Friday at the Mary Nutter Classic in Palm Springs.

Arizona (11-2) will complete Friday’s doubleheader vs. No. 7 Florida this afternoon. First pitch is set for 1:55 p.m. MST on FloSoftball ($).

Reyna Carranco went 2 for 4 with an RBI single in the third and Sharlize Palacios tacked on a run later in the frame with a sacrifice fly to center.

Arizona blew the game open in the fifth when Harper crushed a three-run homer to left and Davis, four batters later, went yard to the same part of the park, a two-run shot to give the Wildcats a 7-0 lead.

Schuld blasted a three-run bomb of her own in the seventh, her second of the season. The sophomore had two hits, extending her hitting streak to eight games and upping her average to .478, settling in nicely in the designated player position.

For Harper, it was her fifth homer of the season and 71st of her career, pulling into a tie for sixth on Arizona’s all-time home runs list. For Davis, the junior first baseman, it was her first of the season as well as her first long ball since her freshman year when she had four homers.

Denham (4-0, 2.58 ERA) tallied a season-high 10 strikeouts. Only four Aztecs reached base. Two via walk, one via hit by pitch, and the other on a single.

SDSU (10-5) put two on with one out in the second but UA third baseman Malia Martinez snared a liner and doubled off the runner at first to end the inning.

Arizona is 2-1 in the Mary Nutter so far, beating SDSU and No. 18 Missouri but falling to Texas A&M. Check out our softball section for recaps of those games.
