Arizona softball completed a doubleheader sweep of Oregon State in dominant fashion, run-ruling the Beavers 10-2 in five innings on Saturday afternoon at Hillenbrand Memorial Stadium.
As it did in the 9-5 win over OSU (13-10, 2-3) earlier in the day, Arizona (17-5, 2-2) fell behind early before coming alive. The UA trailed 2-0 after the top of the first inning after being down 5-0 in the first game.
The long ball got things started for the Wildcats, with Alyssa Palomino-Cardoza blasting a solo home run in the third. Palomino’s 2-out triple in the fourth sparked a 4-run rally that saw Dejah Mulipola, Jessie Harper and Sharlize Palacios homer back-to-back-to-back to make it 6-2.
Palomino then ended it with a grand slam in the fifth, finishing with six RBI and two of the eight homers Arizona had on Saturday.
In the circle, Hannah Bowen (3-0) shook off a rough first inning to go the distance, allowing three hits and a walk while striking out eight.
Arizona and OSU finish up their 4-game series Sunday at 12 p.m. PT. The Wildcats have won 14 straight against the Beavers dating back to 2016.
